LDDC works with Louisville Metro Government in the planning and direct project management of infrastructure improvements Downtown.  Dealing with both aspects ensures design and work quality standards are commensurate with the high profile nature of the area. These improvements primarily consist of upgrading streetscapes and improving public infrastructure in the Central Business District and include: lighting improvements, wayfinding signage, utility upgrades, sidewalk and curb replacement, streetscape design, and transportation improvements.

Downtown’s public realm must function well for those who reside, visit, work and own property in the area. LDDC has developed a series of streetscape and public space standards that it strives to implement throughout Downtown.  Well planned, constructed, and managed streetscapes are not only aesthetically pleasing and benefit the quality of life, but also help drive economic development Downtown.
